The practice of forced disappearances has become commonplace in México. Military and paramilitary repression in Chiapas has been manifested as widespread murders, massacres and forced disappearances. The victims of forced disappearances in Guerrero and Oaxaca are usually social and community activists, that seek to change living conditions for the peasant populationl Human rights violations are on the increase here as well. Forced disappearances are practiced in other states as well, and there recent reported cases coming from Veracruz, Sinaloa, Puebla Morelos and Mexico City, among others.

We must find truth and justice for the disappeared in Mexico - but we must also stop this horrible practice.
